Flyfishing Indiana's Stillwaters

Monroe Reservoir has provided some exciting fly fishin!. "Wipers", a cross between the fresh water white bass and the salt water striper, are one of the hardest fighting fresh water fish around. Wipers are schooling fish, so finding them isn’t always easy, but the search can provide huge rewards. Fly fishing for wipers is limited to early Spring and late Fall. In Spring it starts when the water warms to around 50 degrees, until it reaches 60 degrees, and in late fall as the water drops from 60 down to 50 degrees. During these times the Wipers come up to feed near the surface on schools of baitfish. Often times when we find the fish we'll be on a school of them for several hours, catching fish after fish. We have caught Wipers up to 15lbs.

Wipers can be caught by casting from the shore at times, but a boat gives you much better access to marauding schools of fish busting bait out of reach of shore anglers.

Private Stillwaters – We also have access to several private ponds and lakes. When Mother Nature kicks us off of our favorite rivers, these seldom fished waters provide excellent largemouth bass, bluegill and crappie fishing in a secluded setting.
