Flatrock River is a wonderful stream for wading with a flyrod
The Flatrock River is a beautiful limestone bottom, fast flowing river. For most of its length it is shrouded with overhanging trees. The average width of the river is 40’ to 50”. It can be floated in the Spring but as Summer sets in and water levels drop it becomes very wadable. The average size of smallmouth bass is bigger in the Flatrock than in the other SW Indiana streams. The Flatrock is the place to fish when you are looking for quality not quantity. Due to its size casting can be challenging at times. Access to the Flatrock can be hard to come by and for this reason we very seldom have to share this stream with other fisherman. We float or wade fish the Flatrock depending on water conditions. Mostly wading, though.
